“Cherries Jubilee”

This was my fourth pastel piece to complete and the first attempt at using Pastelbord. I did not like the gritty surface at first, but the more I used it the more I got used to how it accepted the pastel and how to blend. Much like the Clairfontaine pastelmat, it was useless to try to blend on the first couple of passthroughs with the pastels. But once I got enough pastel in the tooth of the paper, I could start to blend. I thoroughly enjoyed painting and improvising a bit with these cherry blossoms. I felt like I was giving them petticoats.
